Fall Art 2017

Hi Everyone-
Happy End of Summer! I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather we are having. We are fortunate not not be dealing with catastrophic weather like so many people in this country and others. Thanks to all who are sending aid!

It has been a summer of transitions for me. I apologize for the lateness of this email but have been traveling back and forth to Canada this August. My parents are adapting to the loss of independence in old age and my youngest son just took on more as he starts University in Montreal at Concordia.Life is change!
Speaking of change, this Fall classes at A Room for Art will be different. I will be running an after school course at Decordova in Lincoln this October and November on Thursdays in Lincoln. I am reducing classes in the studio to concentrate on this. It is a great education for me to get to know the art, some artists and staff at this sculpture park and an opportunity to integrate natural history, art and pedagogy. So out of the studio into the park! All this is contingent upon the course enrolling of course. Look out for the course called What do You See Now? for 7-11 yr olds in Decordova’s Fall offerings at decordova.org
Maybe some of you can join me?

Here at the studio I will run a Tuesday and a Wednesday class. Each class will be every other week allowing for no class the week of Hallowe’en. Tuesdays will be younger school age and Wednesdays older school age. These aren’t rigid categories.

Tuesdays K- Gr 3 10/3, 10/17, 11/7, 11/21, 12/5
Wednesdays Gr 2-5 10/11, 10/25, 11/15, 11/29, 12/13

What will we do? play with a variety of media, 2D and 3D, a project a class and some time to breathe and play!

To register : send me an email with your name, your child’s name and date of birth

Bring first day of class:

and
Fees $100 for 5 classes, 10% off total for siblings

Thanks, Ann

Summer Art Camp is a morning program for 5-11yr olds. Art projects are linked to games, stories, playful physical challenges and experimentation with elements like water, sand, clay, bubbles, earth and air. We do individual and collaborative work with a variety of 2D and 3D materials. The work is inspired by nature, fine artists, the materials themselves, and each other. It’s summer and the aim is to get wet, dirty and immersed in the elements!

The Art
Visit my blog for pictures of past projects and summer camp archives. It will give you an idea of the materials I use regularly and the kinds of activities we do at camp. During Summer Camp we will do more with the outdoors and nature for inspiration. Each week will have a loose theme to tie the activities together. Some of the projects will produce products that we can play with outside. Some projects will be collaborative and others will simply be art to look at. There will be free time to experiment with materials.
The media will be a mixture of 2D and 3D.

I’ll let you know the themes later! (Not only do I need time to get it altogether, I also think that a theme does not tell a child what camp’s going to be like)
