Concrete learners need things to think with, use materials to express ideas instead of words.

Welcome to the Fall Session

Students will have opportunities to experiment with a variety of materials, be inspired from nature, fine art and each other, learn drawing and painting skills, play, invent with everyday materials, make 2D and 3D pieces, develop a visual vocabulary, begin to understand the Elements of Art: line, shape, colour, value, texture, space, composition, form.

The classes will include some inspiration like a story, a game, a visual search or a challenge that introduces an art project. The projects have different kinds of products, sometimes important to the student, sometimes not. Occasionally there is no permanent product.

This Fall I’ll be offering classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, starting the first week of October. Each group will meet every other week for an hour and a half,  for a 5 class session. Each of the 2 younger age groups, K-Gr 2 and Gr 3-5, will have 3 options. One of the options is a family group class, K-Gr5 on Thursdays. Wednesday classes are spread out because I work once a month at Coyote Club at Habitat.

The grade 6-8 class will be lead by Eileen Murphy- McNamara and myself and will be a combination of art/design and architecture.(more news on this to follow)

K-Gr2 Wednesday 3:30-5pm 10/16, 10/30, 11/13, 11/27, 12/11 FULL

K-Gr5 Thursdays 3:30-5pm 10/3, 10/17, 11/7, 11/21, 12/12  FULL

Gr 3-5 Tuesday 3:30-5pm 10/8, 10/22, 11/5,11/19, 12/3  LOTS OF SPACE

Gr 3-5 Wednesday 3:3-5pm 10/9, 10/23, 11/20, 12/18 (4 classes only)  "

Gr 6-8 Thursday 3:30-5pm postponed to winter session

Logistics:

-for new families the door to the studio is down the driveway to the right of the house

-make sure I am here before you leave your child! (not necessary for middle schoolers)

-send your children in clothes suitable for the weather, including shoes, that can get paint (and more) on them

-make sure you mark your calendars with these schedules. They are weird. Let me know if you see errors!

Enrollment: Send me an email with your child’s name, DOB, the days he/she could attend, your preference of day. If you don’t have flexibility please sign up early! Sometimes there is a run on a certain day of the week.

Fees: Please bring payment the first day of class. $100 for 5 classes. Sibling discount is 10% off total fees.
